First of all, because it’s an Indigo Girls song. And they’re pretty much awesome.
And second of all, because it’s a cinch to edit out any swear words by yelling “EARMUFFS” really loud. Thank you Vince Vaughn in Old School.

OMG!! Merry Christmas to me. Best. Post. Ever.
I think it might be time that Lane and I teach Noah the “pendulum swinger” dance. We’ll choreograph a new portion for “earmuffs”.

Adorable! I always liked you guys, but with a song of my Girls on your blog, and Bug dancin’ away to it, you just went up a zillion and half earmuffin’ points. Does he know the Pendulum Swinger dance, too? We took the boys to see them in concert when they were 3, 5, and 7, and the folks around us got a big kick out of us covering their ears for the f-bomg in Shame on You. I think they thought it was pretty cool that parents were so very okay with women hanging all over each other, and yet so very concerned about that one word. Many would assume (wrongly) that we had it earmuffed up.
